At fourteen years of age Guy started throwing the discus. He set numerous national age records in the United Kingdom and one world age mark. He won multiple English Schools and UK Junior titles in the discus from 1968-1972, and represented Britain in Junior track and field international events. At college Guy won the University Athletic Union championship in the discus. He also won the 100kg class British Universities title in Olympic style weightlifting. Guy also used to compete in the occasional Highland Games. In 1978 Corby Games, he threw the 56lb Weight 16ft 2in at a body weight of 102kg/225lbs.
In 2013, after a 30 year gap, will compete in Master Track and Field events. His main concentration is still the discus, but he is a national caliber triple jumper…when injuries allow.
