1970 TVR Tuscan (wide body)

The rarest factory production TVR's were the seven Tuscan "wide-body" cars built in 1970.  These cars were the prototypes in body styling of the successful M-series TVR's of the 1970's. They are arguably the "holy grail" of TVR collector cars. The TVR in my collection is co-owned with Paul Guinn, who meticulously restored our TVR Tuscan, chassis number MAL 019. All TVR Tuscan wide-body cars were powered by a Ford 302 cu.in. / 5-liter engine, with a two-barrel carburetor. The wide-body Tuscan SE, in the factory sales brochure, specified a Ford Boss 302 cu.in. This engine was developed by Ford for 1969-1970 for the Mustang to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am racing series, a response to the successful Camaro Z/28. The engine in our car, MAL 019, has an ex-Holman Moody Trans Am race series engine. Holman Moody developed engines for Fords successful wins at the Le Mans 24 Hour race. MAL 019 is fully documented, with extreme rarity for the car in general, and its power unit. A collectors dream, or a winning big-bore vintage race car.
